The microphone
Quiet Quest uses your computer's microphone only to measure how loud the room is. The sound is turned into a single volume number many times a second and then thrown away. No audio is recorded, saved, or sent anywhere. The microphone only turns on after you click "Start with microphone" and allow it in your browser, and you can turn it off any time in your browser's settings.
Students
Quiet Quest has no student accounts, logins, or names. Students only watch the screen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
What is saved, and where
Your class gold, purchases, settings, class names, and Pro license key are saved in your own web browser on your computer (in "local storage"). They are not sent to us. If you clear your browser's data, they are erased, so use the backup feature in the Teacher panel if you want a copy.
Information that leaves your computer
- Pro purchases: Payments are handled by Gumroad. When you buy Pro, Gumroad receives your payment details and email under its own privacy policy. We never see your card number.
- License checks: When you unlock Pro, and about once a month after that, the app sends your license key to Gumroad to confirm the purchase is valid.
- Feedback: If you use the Send feedback form, we receive what you type, your email if you give it, and, if you leave the box checked, your app version, free or Pro, and browser type. Please don't include students' names.
- Fonts and hosting: The website loads fonts from Google Fonts and is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any website, these services receive basic technical information such as your IP address so they can deliver the pages.
What we don't do
- No ads and no advertising trackers.
- No selling or sharing of your information.
- No recording of audio, video, or student work.
